Technology that helps people work smarter and makes our lives better is a theme which has been a part of my entire career. Continuing that trend, at Cognizant I am responsible for our Conversational AI practice, a team dedicated to helping companies understand, prepare for and benefit from a new class of technologies enabling a new industrial revolution.
Before Cognizant I was a practicing entrepreneur, first launching a company providing sales and marketing services and later a second delivering robotic process automation programs for outsourcing companies. Earlier roles were with tech firms BancTec, CompuCom, Vanstar/TRW and NYNEX Business Systems. In each of these organizations I held sales positions of some kind, as an account executive, sales manager or sales VP. I’ve also had the opportunity to run marketing teams a couple of times in my career and so have experienced both sides of the sales and marketing trenches.
In an industry capacity, I have served on the leadership board of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals for both the Tools and Technology chapter and the Robotic Process Automation chapter (the latter I have helped launch). I have been a member of the Marketing Automation Software Advisory Board, founder / co-chair of Dallas Social Media Breakfast and past chair of the Outsourcing Institute’s Road Show Series.
When unplugged from the work world I spend every minute possible with my family, including my wife, two daughters and a menagerie of dogs, cats, fish and even a Bearded Dragon. Our life is as fast-paced as everyone’s these days, but in our free time we play golf, squeeze in road trips to fun places near and far, hang out by the pool on hot days and watch our favorite shows together in the evenings. (By the way, the banner pictures on this website were all taken by my wife Cyndy during a family tour of western United States National Parks.) My other loves are smoking BBQ, ice cold beer and college football. Stop by on a Saturday in the fall and I’m likely hanging out with my dad and cheering on the Florida State Seminoles.
This site is about all these things and it’s fitting to me they sit side-by-side since lines between work life / personal life have been blurred for quite a long time now. So, don’t be surprised to see a blog post about Robotic Process Automation next to one about preparing the perfect rack of smoked pork ribs, followed by a golf tip I’ve picked up on the driving range. You may even find a review of a recent glass of Kentucky Straight Bourbon I’ve enjoyed!
Thanks for visiting and for reading. I hope you get some value from the site, or at least crack a smile here and there!
