Chapman and part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmeermanscott.com\/book_series.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Rules of Social Media series<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 My marketing IQ jumped noticeably with this book! \u00a0I felt like a content-marketing ninja by the time I reached the final page \u2013 a convenient 12-point Content Checklist (see below).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/3forward.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/Content-Rules.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3539\" title=\"Content Rules\" src=\"http:\/\/3forward.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/Content-Rules.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>I give this resource treasure <strong>14 Post-It Flags<\/strong>, definitely one of my top scores!<\/p>\n<p>At 3FORWARD we work with a lot of companies on marketing automation projects, primarily helping them design, launch and fine-tune their lead lifecycle management programs. \u00a0Once launched, they discover we weren\u2019t kidding when we warned them that creating the content would become their toughest challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately <em>Content Rules<\/em> explains better than anything we\u2019ve found the best approach to creating, publishing and sharing customized, value-add materials.\u00a0\u00a0 The subtitle of the book is \u201c<em>How To Create Killer Blogs, Podcasts, Videos, eBooks, Webinars (and More) that Engage Customers and Ignite Your Business<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 What more could you ask for?<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of my favorite takeaways:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The 18 words and phrases that should be banned \u201cfrom everywhere.\u201d<\/strong> This includes overused, meaningless gems such as <em>leverage, synergy, drill down, 30,000 feet, and almost any word that ends in -ize.<\/em>David Meerman Scott calls this stuff Gobbledygook and he and Hubspot actually have a website that will\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gobbledygook.grader.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">analyze content<\/a> and crank out a Gobbledygook rating!\u00a0 Try it out \u2013 you\u2019ll become addicted!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feeding the Content Food Chain.<\/strong> Thirteen recommendations, tips and examples on how to get the most out of single, original piece of content.\u00a0\u00a0 Think of it like <em>Food Network<\/em> advice for leftover Thanksgiving Turkey \u2013 but for a blog post instead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Twenty-five ideas for What Do I Talk About When There\u2019s Nothing To Say.<\/strong> Enough said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nine Steps to Creating an eBook or White Paper That People Will Read<\/strong>.\u00a0 Number one rule: \u201c<em>Share or solve, don\u2019t shil<\/em><em>l!\u201d <\/em>Few of us have tested-out of this one, but for those who have there\u2019s eight more rules and recommendations to master.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A chapter just for B2B companies.<\/strong> Selfishly, that is who 3FORWARD works with and blogs for, so we mention this section specifically.\u00a0 It\u2019s one of the better explanations we\u2019ve seen of why the old rules of marketing must be trashed and this new approach fully embraced.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Content That Converts: Success Stories (with Ideas You Can Steal!) <\/strong>&#8211;
